Equipment

To support our disruption free learning we will expect our students to attend school every day with the essential equipment (see below) they need to successfully engage in their lessons across a school day.

Essential Equipment

Recommended Equipment

  • An appropriate school bag
  • Pencil case
  • Pen
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Calculator
  • Purple pen
  • Compass
  • Protractor
What if my child forgets their essential equipment?

Essential equipment will be checked at the start of every lesson. If a student does not have the essential equipment they will be asked to go to the behaviour hub where they will be given the equipment they are missing in return for their mobile phone. As a result of forgetting equipment students will be expected to attend a break time detention. Students are expected to bring the equipment back at the end of the day in return for their mobile phone.

My child struggles with organisation:

We understand that some of our students will need extra support with these changes. Please help them by checking their bag in the morning to ensure they arrive at school ready to learn. If you feel your child needs support with equipment, please email your child’s tutor via the main enquiries email on the school website and there will always be support available.

Can I purchase equipment from the school directly?

Pencil cases with the essential equipment will be available to buy via parent mail.

Equipment Support:

We will always do our best to support families who need help with equipment. If you need help to buy new equipment, please get in touch with Mr Bindon. You can email him on bi@kingdown.wilts.sch.uk

What about Years 12 and 13?

We recognise that our 6th formers are young adults and should bring their own equipment to school.
